Elderly Pet Ambassador

The Elderly Pet Organization is pleased to announce it’s new Ambassador Program. As an ambassador, you would help us spread the word about senior pets.

According to Shelter Animals Count, in 2020, more than 2.6 million pets were surrendered to shelters, rescues and senior pet sanctuaries and over 183,000 pets were euthanized – many of which were senior pets that pet owners were not prepared to care for. With your help, we can put an end to senior pet abandonment.

Senior pets that are abandoned or surrendered to a facility are typically more difficult for shelters, rescues and senior pet sanctuaries to adopt out. Senior pets may have special needs or illnesses, that can make adopting them almost impossible. These abandoned animals are left to live out their final days, weeks, months or even years living in a shelter, rescue or sanctuary; and in some cases, these animals are put down to prevent over-crowding. Although shelters, rescues and sanctuaries provide care, kindness, and compassion to these animals, they do not receive the same level of individualized attention and care as they would receive in a warm, loving home with a family that can care for them.

Our goal is to end senior pet abandonment and to provide free pet insurance to at-risk senior pets.

Your participation in our Ambassador program will help us to implement a nationwide Adopt-A Senior Pet program initiative, raise awareness about the plight of senior pets, and help find loving homes for senior pets who are currently living in a shelter, rescue or senior pet sanctuary.

As an ambassador, your job is simple – help us spread the word about senior pets. Many senior pets are surrendered simply because they are too old or unwell. If you have cared for a senior pet, you know how rewarding it can be to provide a loving, caring home for them right until the very end. Help out by telling your story on social media and sharing your story and photos with us. There really is no greater bond than being there for a senior pet.
